Sutton Campground, Florence, Oregon

We went camping this last week-end, after all it was spring break. We had a great time despite the fact it hailed and rained most of Sunday night all the way through Monday. We got to take a couple 4-5 mile walks Saturday and Sunday and visited the beach today before we left. One of the things that made me laugh the most was watching Tristyn, (not) roast a jumbo marshmallow, and make a smore out of it. It was hilarious, this great big not melted marshmallow, sitting between  2 graham crackers with a hunk of not melted chocolate, him trying to get his mouth around it...Oh my goodness that was funny.
The kids explored the nearly empty campground to their hearts desire. They made friends of salamanders and discovered Skunk Cabbage. On Monday when the weather was incredibly moist, (rain, wind and hail,) they played kids games in the camper. You know the way it used to be done before the internet...They learned the clapping game Miss Mary Mac, making a day of that...I was almost sorry I taught it to them, but not really. They colored, painted and played other games. I am proud of the three of them, for their creativity and their cooperation with each other.
Here are the pics I got of our first walk, goofy kids and all...
